CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN

Bree came home feeling dirtier than a pig in the swamp, covered in mud.

She'd allowed those old fools paw her like an object, and throw their smelly breath in her face, and for what?

And to her shame, she hadn't fought because she'd been scared and numb while they brought back buried memories.

She hated Jeffery so much it hurt, but this visit just sent the intensity with which she did to the heavens and back.

She couldn't stand herself and all she could think about on her way back was scrubbing the filth away from her body in the bath until she feels totally scrubbed and clean of their touch.

Hot tears rolled down her eyes even as she tried to bite them back, her life was seeming more like a curse with every new day.

Yeah, she understood it now, for some crime she'd committed in her past life, she was being punished with her only living parent.
