I was at the hospital very early in the morning. I hadn’t gotten time to come see Lily between trying to find out who was threatening her and how she ended up at the hospital.

I held her hand as I leaned my head on to it.

“I know that I haven’t been a good husband – if I am even your husband at all – but I want to assure you that I am going to find out who did this to you.”

I wasn’t sure if she could hear me or not but I wanted her to know that I was fighting for her. Something I should have done a long time ago.

Chris opened the door and walked in holding two cups of coffee.

“Good morning.” He handed me one of the cups.

“Good morning,” I replied as I raised the cup of coffee, “thank you.”
