CHAPTER FORTY THREE

"What do you have in store for today?" I inquire of Kerry as she makes her way downstairs in pursuit of her cup of coffee in the morning.

You're here; I assumed you'd still be at Rory's. I was just about to text you.

"Don't be like that, Kerry. We discussed last night and …."

And you fucked up?

"No, I was going to add, and we decided that we're not going to put any strain on what we have; instead, we're just going to see each other when we can, with no strings attached and no pressure," the speaker said. "No strings, no pressure."

Kerry frowns as she looks up from the coffee machine and glances around the room. "Like you can even do that," they said.

I sit up straight and wonder why she has the impression that I can't. Why shouldn't it?

"Darcy, you won't be able to handle him if there are other ladies around."

"I won't know who he's with," he responded.

She shows some form of agreement by nodding her head, but her expression suggests that she is not really convinced. "Ok," she respond
