ETHAN

“An innocent heart holds no fear,” my mother would say to me as a kid.

So why was I afraid? Though my life wasn't the most exciting, I was content with it before I saw that demon. From that moment on, I had no peace. My thoughts were consumed by it. When I wasn't thinking about it, I was trying to force myself not to. It was suffocating.

The worst part was that I couldn't tell anyone about it. Look, don't get me wrong, I was relieved that Brent didn't remember seeing Acelia- he was better off not knowing about whatever this was. But that meant I was alone in this.

“I will explain everything to you,” Tyler had said when I called him yesterday. “I know this is a lot to take in, but it is what it is.”

Tyler seemed to know who Acelia was, but I found it disheartening that I couldn't find much comfort in him, as his tone made it clear that he was deathly afraid of her. Still, speaking to him somewhat pacified my worried heart.
