69. A MERMAID'S LAKE

“Can you take me to the Mermaid Lake?” I said to Stern, my fingers running through his fur for him to freeze then purr, falling under my spell as I caught him in my web.

He relished in the feeling before turning around, my hand drawing away. He took off running, staring back at me, seeing that he wanted us to race. I giggled, he could never win but I gave him his head start as he bolted away. I shook my head, picking up my speed and running after him. His ego would be crushed, deciding to lower my speed as I ran a few feet behind him. He ran with his all, poor him. My eyes turned, taking the forest in as the night fell on it and it was beyond breath taking. There were flying insects, some with glowing bodies and others with glowing eyes. Their sounds just brought the forest to life as it buzzed with such enchantment and I was so taken by it.

It was stunning.
