RED ROSES

Halfway through the doorway and halfway out of the houses is where I was standing. In between the doorway. Stuck. Processing what was before my very eyes.

Motionless. Numb. Wordless. Speechless. Scared. Turned on. Butterflies at flight in my belly. Nervous. Emotions were all over the place. Unstabilizing my body the most by the second.

Fear intently crept in. Weakening my body to the core. Adrenaline at its best. My blood moving in slow motion. My throat immediately drying up like a drop of methylated spirit on a hot sunny day.

My heart and pulse in competition with one another. Each trying to beat better and louder than the other. My skin, of course - white from fair.

Goosebumps rose all over my body. I felt a cool breeze blow directly on my skin despite being entirely covered and confined under a shirt and hoodie.

A little tingle kept playing hopscotch between my left ankle and knee. I was shaken. My legs were almost giving up on carrying my entire body.

I was unmotivated to check who had sent the flowers. Somewhat strangely, My 6th sense knew who it was. But I wasn't willing to establish what my instincts were saying.

A light warm weight rested calmly on my left shoulder and made me slightly choke on my breath as I accurately turned. It was Katlego's hand. My heart toned down a bit knowing I was safe and not alone anymore.

A confused Katlego looked at me in the eye, probably wondering what caught my attention.

" Are you okay?", he asked seeming worried with a light smile.

His eyes still fixed on me expecting an answer.

I slightly smiled yet getting pale by the moment. I couldn't respond for I knew he'd pick up the fear in my voice.

His smile quickly faded as he cast his eyes on the neat bouquet of fresh red roses on the table, a meter and half behind me.

I didn't know what to do at this point. I let everything just flow as it should. Besides, Kat and I weren't together anymore. I didn't owe him any explanation but I wasn't at the utmost peace at this moment knowing the kind of man he is.

He lightly shoved me to the left side making rough haste towards the table.

I slowly turned to face the whole scenario. I was mentally prepared to see the ugliest side of Katlego Madness.

He greatly positioned himself in a spot where he could catch both my facial reaction well and monitor the whole atmospheric mood change.

He picked the flowers up and stole a few glances towards me. From where I was, I could see him grazing his teeth so hard. I know that look very well. I had seen it very few times but I was very well acquainted with it. It was the look he put on when he was jealous and insecure.

He turned and tossed the flowers around and until he found a tag.

" Thank you for the moment earlier on. H", he read aloud stiffening his jaw and words.

, in a mimicking-cartoon kind of voice.

I felt ashamed and embarrassed within me. I swallowed hard and kept inside all the shameful emotions. I put a little effort to lighten my face as much as possible, showing little or no emotion at all.

I took a deep breath and finally made up my mind to accept the flowers. I steadily walked towards him as my legs were still tingling. I stretched out my hands eager to receive them. As fresh and beautiful as they were, he didn't hand them over immediately.

I shifted my eyes from the flowers and his met mine instantly. His eyes asked questions I couldn't answer in all ways.

Physically. Verbally. Emotionally. Or by eye contact.

He smiled a little and handed them over to me earnestly. I felt my tummy turn and meander in dire fear. The rare side of Katlego could be released any minute if I wasn't careful.

I received the bouquet with a smile on my face. I passionately smelled the flowers on his face. Something I did ignorantly. I smelled them again and again. They were beautiful. Just like the man who had sent them.

I read the tag and knew who sent them.

H sent them. H for Hezekiah. Guns and roses must be his motto. The thought of a dangerous yet romantic man strangely began to turn me on.

"I'll find a vase for these", I said while turning away to avoid the awkwardness.

Before I could fully turn, Katlego pulled my arm roughly and I landed right in his front. I looked up as he looked down. Our eyes met and locked, mine into his.

He continued to grind his teeth, veins protruding all over his face. His eyes filled with fury. Streaks of sweat began to gather and fall off his temple.

He pulled me closer to him almost smashing the flowers between our chests. He slowly fetched flowers from my hands with his left hand and lightly tossed them to the floor. He pulled me the closest he could to himself as if being territorial.

" We ought to talk", he said stiffly yet as hot as chilli peppers.

At this moment, his grip on me grew tighter, almost painful. The veins in his arms became more visible. His jawline stiffened causing more veins on his neck and face to be more confident.

His member began to massively grow. I could feel him over the sweat pants he wore. It slowed down for nobody. This happens every time he was so furious. It happens when he wants to show you who the man is. It happens when he wants to put you in your place and punish you a little.

I knew exactly what he meant. Every nerve in my body understood that. Goosebumps erupted all over my skin like a volcano. This was the way my body responded to his request.
