Chapter Two

Many years passed, the people of Oluyole kingdom expected the great fall and the birth of the children who would make her rise again even after their demise. The king had the same dream again, exactly like the first one. That was just a message from the gods that the great fall is already at the corner but the dimension it's going to take, no body knew. They just had to be prepared for it. Even at that, Logos never seized to flourish bountifully. Everything still went on peacefully, which ignited the jealousy and fury of the nearby villages. Oluyole kingdom had the strongest army in all the villages that surrounded her, which made it difficult for them to strike her down but still, they didn't seize to nuture their hidden fury against Oluyole, they needed to strike a very MIGHTY BLOW against her. They started holding meetings upon meetings on how to strike this blow. They came to a resolution that the only way to strike Oluyole kingdom down is war. They all came together and sent an àrokò to king Aderoju, a message that wasn't easily understood.

King Aderoju(soliloquizing): What kind of message is this àrokò? It contains a gunpowder and the skeleton of a dead toad...Hmmmmmmm gods of my ancestors!! Please help me!! Help me......

The queen interrupted his thoughts, hugging him from the back.

Queen Adebisi: kábìyèsí!!! My husband!! You don't have to bother yourself too much on this. Just call onto your chiefs. I know and I believe you all will be wise enough to crack this hard knot. You guys are a great team and you know I don't like to see you in deep thoughts. I love you so much and I don't want to lose you now. Come back to me please...

The king sighed and faced his dear wife.

King Aderoju: Àsàbí You never seize to amaze me and you know what? I love you so much more than you think I do. Come on!! You're staying with me tonight.

Queen Àsàbí: No, not until you have your dinner.

King Aderoju: Hmmmmmmm!!! Then I'll have two different food tonight and that's the one you cooked and you yourself.

They laughed and ate before making love to themselves, the love that can never result to a baby. The next day, the king called his Chiefs and discussed the pressing matter with them.

King Aderoju: The subjects!! The reason I urgently called you is because of this.

He brought out the coded message from a bag not far from his reach and handed it to them. They passed it to themselves before handing it over to the king.

Iyalode: A gun powder and the skeleton of a toad? What is that suppose to mean?

Ashipa: Hmmmmn!!! The way I see this........but first, we need to first ask ourselves what's the personal use of these things ooooo or what do you think?

Osi: Yes!! You've made some point there. A gunpowder is used to kill when put in a gun. The dead toad is what I don't know.

Otun, who was silent since the meeting began spoke.

Otun: Hmmmmmmm!!! A fact. Gun powder is used to kill when it is put in a gun. Kábìyèsí!! If you won't say I'm stupid. It was the neighbouring villages that sent this, right?

King Aderoju: Yes?

Otun: And they're human beings like us too, right?

King Aderoju: Why this stupid question?

Otun: King I'm sorry to say this but this àrokò is passing no message other than we should be prepared for war.

Other chiefs: War??? How's that possible?

Otun: My King!! That was why I asked a stupid question "are they human being like us?". If they are, it means they know that a gunpowder can kill if it is put in a gun. They sent this gunpowder as a message to us, which means only one thing.

King Aderoju: That they will put the gun powder in their guns, come here and kill us all.

Otun: That's right my king.

Osi: And those taken as slaves will be starved to death and their bodies will be dumped in the open and left to dry until it becomes like that of that skeleton of a toad.

The king rose up immediately and the chiefs bowed in respect to the king.

King Aderoju: Almighty God!! The great fall is here now and we have to face it for the future of our unborn generation. Ashipa!!! Tell balogun to prepare for war. We still have to fight even though we know what the war holds for us.

He went into his chambers immediately and one after the other, the chiefs left for their homes.

"Wars come and go but my soldiers still stay alive"

This saying used to work for the soldiers of Oluyole kingdom before the great fall, when there was no one but slaves to tell the story of how the soldiers of Oluyole fought brutally to save their kingdom. They all died, all the men, children and some women were killed while the rest of them were taken as slaves.
