“Why would I? I am so close to dismissing the case, and the truth of your stealing my clients will come to light,” Scott replied.

“If I dismiss the case personally, the case won’t be on your court record and a police record. I promise not to come after any of your clients again. You have my word,” Rockwell said.

“Are you sure?” Scott asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, I promise we just have to shake on it. I give you my word,” Rockwell answered.

How can I trust this man? He stole my clients from behind my back, wants to spoil my image with a stupid assault case, and now he wants me to let everything go.

Does his word even mean anything to him? I think I should go along with it. After all, I don’t want this assault case in my records.

“Alright, if you say so,” Scott said as he half shrugged.

Rockwell stretched his hand forward. Scott then shook his hand.

“Let’s go back in there; you can fill your lawyer in,” Rockwell said.
