A new job

The next morning, Lilian got ready and headed to work like she usually did.

She got to the office, changed into her cleaning attire and went to her assigned section.

"Hey Lilian." Sue greeted as soon as she saw her.

"Hey Sue, how was your night?" she answered.

"Wonderful, thanks to the wonderful dinner I ate last night. I slept like a baby." Sue replied.

"That's good to know." Lilian said with a smile.

"So how did you sleep?" Sue asked.

"Okay." Lilian lied. She couldn't tell Sue that she had tossed and turned in her bed throughout the night wondering if her boss had noticed she was a werewolf.

"Did you dream of Mr Romano?" Sue asked teasingly.

"No! Why would I dream of him?" Lilian asked.

"Because you just met him yesterday and he is so handsome and dreamy" Sue said.

"Don't tell me you have dreamt of him before?" Lilian asked.

"Yes, I have. In my dreams, he is the perfect prince charming. Handsome and a bit rogueish as well..........." Sue trailed on as she kept gushing over Alessandro.

As Sue kept on talking, Lilian sighted their supervisor approaching them. She started signaling Sue to keep quiet but Sue remained oblivious to her signals and kept talking.

The supervisor cleared his throat as he stepped in front of them. Sue turned around and her face went pale with fear when she realized that her supervisor was behind her.

"I do hope for your own good, that you face your work with the same passion you dream of Mr Romano."

"Yes sir." Sue answered timidly, feeling very embarrassed.

"Good morning Sir." Lilian greeted.

"Good morning miss Howard. Please pack up your things and come with me" he told her.

"Why?" she asked in confusion.

"The boss, Mr Romano has instructed that you should be transferred to his department to work as his secretary."

Sue gasped in shock at the news but Lilian kept her composure.

"But why? I didn't request for a transfer."

"Mr Romano will answer any questions you have. Please come with me now." the Supervisor said.

Lilian looked at Sue who gave her a smile of encouragement.

"Don't be worried Lilian, it's just a job upgrade. I am sure the pay and working conditions would be better." Sue told her.

Lilian reached out and hugged her tightly.

"Wait for me, so we can get home together, okay?" she told Sue.

"Of course Lilian."

Lilian packed up her things and followed the supervisor to Alessandro's office.

For the first time, she rode the elevator to the top floor. Previously she had no business going up there, she wasn't among the cleaners who worked there.

Now, she was expected to work there and be a secretary to Alessandro. She made up her mind to refuse the job offer even she saw him.

They got to the top floor and the elevator stopped. Lilian and the supervisor stepped out and headed to his office.

The supervisor knocked on the door and the door was opened. Lilian and the supervisor entered inside.

Alessandro was seated at his desk looking through some documents. Lilian looked around confused, she wondered who had opened the door since Alessandro was clearly seated.

"The door is automated." Alessandro spoke up.

"Huh?" Lilian asked.

"You were wondering how the door opened right?" Alessandro asked.

"Yes, I was. How did you know sir?"

"Most people get that reaction when they come into my office for the first time." he replied.

"Here she is sir." the supervisor said.

Alessandro looked at him, as if he just noticed that he was there.

"Good, you may go." he told him, the supervisor bowed and left the office.

"Sit down, miss Howard." Alessandro gestured to the chair in front of him.

"Thank you sir." she replied and sat down.

"Well i am sure you have been informed about your new position, am I correct?"

"Yes sir."

"Good........." he paused and looked at her appearance.

"My driver will drive you to my stylist, she will take you shopping." he continued.

"I am afraid, I would have to reject your offer sir." Lilian told him.

"Why?" he asked.

"I don't think I would be suitable for such a job."

"Why?"

"I am just a lowly cleaner, a secretary would need to accompany you to meetings and be smart and knowledgeable."

"And you think you aren't any of those things?"

"Yes sir, I would like to return to my former position."

"Well Miss Howard, I watched your interview video, you were smart and articulate, that's why I offered you this position. Besides, I offered you this job because of your honesty you showed yesterday. I need someone honest for this job. And I also feel the need to look out for you."

"Look out for me?" Lilian repeated incomprehensibly.

"Yes, us werewolves need to look out for each other."

Lilian stared at him as alarm bells went off in her head. He knew that she was a werewolf?
