CHAPTER 34 – FACING THE BEAST

“Ma'am, from here on, you'll have to go alone to meet the king,” Roc whispered, trying to keep his voice low so as not to attract the beast's attention.

“What?” I took a few steps back, trembling with fear. “You want me to go alone and face that creature?”

They all nodded with expressions of apprehension.

“And what should I do?” I asked anxiously. “Just let it tear me apart, like it did with the wolves down below.”

“I'm sure the Goddess will be by your side.” Roc looked at the sky, making me follow his gaze towards the moon, which appeared larger and brighter that night.

“Hell, I hope so!” I exclaimed angrily. “And know that if I die, I'll make sure to come back for revenge!”

Wide-eyed, Roc turned to me. “Are you threatening a deity? Aren't you afraid of her wrath?”

“Fear for my life is all I feel!” I replied, trembling. “Well, you all run off with your tails between your legs. I'll face this monster!”

“Forgive us!” With their heads hung low, I saw the small group of wolves moves away
