As soon as I arrived at the castle and learned what had happened to my grandmother, I became extremely enraged. Why did no one call me or otherwise inform me about what happened? I was prepared to get even with Lucas for keeping that information from me. But before I did anything else, I wanted to thank Russell privately in his room.

It was almost as if he was waiting for me to say something before he would continue.

Before I could have the opportunity to thank him. He greeted me by saying, "alpha, please, we need to talk about something important." I was standing by the door.

I hurriedly approached him and greeted him with a warm smile. "I wanted to thank you first because you have saved the life of my grandmother," I said.

He sighed in dejection and looked down at the floor, and then he said to me in a broken tone as if he wasn't ready to look into my eyes, "please, alpha, there is no need to thank me. However, I would ask that you listen to what I have to say.
