Chapter 13: Threat

My life has been hell for a month since Aline moved into this house. I haven't even cracked a joke in a long time.

Even the jokes I see on TV have lost their zing.

"Hey, are you actually watching TV?" she asked even though it was obvious. What else was I doing in front of the big TV with the remote in my hand.

"Just so you know, my father owns that TV station." Aline started her sentence as if she wanted to insinuate my poverty again.

"And your point is?"

"Oh, and that other station? My uncle's the owner."

I stood up and attempted to walk away from the sofa, but Aline abruptly stopped me again.

"Don’t even think of moving. Step away, and I'll wreck your life, guaranteed." she threatened and for some reason I was always afraid of her threats. I didn't know what was going on, but this woman seemed to have a power that I couldn't control.

I sat back, warily watching Aline, fearful that she would do something dangerous again.

"Luna, ever realize how the mass media rules the world?"
