Chapter 14: Eel Girl

I woke up at five o'clock this morning, kept awake by Aline's mention of a surprise planned for seven a.m.

If Aline's surprise had been something fun, I bet I could've actually slept. But no, it was a threat.

"I really hope she doesn't do anything crazy." I whispered to myself.

I was a mess, my stomach doing flips all because of the crazy anxiety.

As the sun popped up, I had to face the real deal – no escaping it.

And Rafe? He wasn’t around again. Seems like he's always caught up in his own stuff these days.

"No matter what, Luna, don't give in." I gripped my hand tightly, clenching my fingers into a fist and hoping that today wouldn't be the worst day of my life.

Stepped outside and there was Aline, just standing there, with the TV blaring at full blast.

"Luna, I got these high-end speakers just for today." Aline pointed at the speakers I'd only ever seen in social media ads.

"Aline, please tell me you were joking yesterday."

"I'm serious about everything I say, Luna."
