I had lost track of time, minutes easily slipping into hours, hours into days, days into weeks. A part of myself comfortably gone and lost with her.

A fast rap on my offices door jolted me from my distant thoughts and I grunted to let whoever it was known they could come in.

I didn’t need to turn to know who it was, the sentry commander stepped in.

“Umm, we’ve scouted all free routes and sent sentries to every pack in the said radius…”

“And..?” I asked, my voice low, eyes watching small flakes of snow sail to the ground.

“There’s no sign of here Sir.”

I sighed, pain making my heart heavy.

“Run it again…”

“Sir I’d recommend at least a days rest for the wolves, they’ve been at this operation relentlessly for a weeks now—”

“Commander must I remind you who’s the Alpha of this pack?”

“No sir, of course I say everything with utmost respect—”
