CHAPTER TWENTY - DEALING WITH THE DEVIL

I had woken up quite in a very happy mood. Made a quick cup of coffee then one for Sara who hung onto her dreams, not eager to wake so early as she usually used to. I could tell our conflict and Jack being here had greatly weakened and troubled her so put her cup of coffee in the off microwave so it didn’t cool so fast.

Pacing about the living room, I had expected Kent to come as early as the seventh hour but there was sign of him. I went out, looking across the community compound in hopes to spot his black coat contrast with the lightly falling white snow but still no sign.

When a knock came from the door I sprinted to it, pulling the door open and brimming at whoever it was, my enthusiasm dropping when I met the eyes of the nurse.

“Miss Valentina.” She lowered her head in greeting and I did the same, letting her through and wanting this to be over as quick as possible lest Kent was to apparate at the door.
