3: Moon Goddess Sent

RUBY.

Danger. That was the first thing I felt the moment I saw those twins gazing at me with those unique sets of eyes filled with nothing but hostility.

I just knew I had to get out of there and fast, however, I hadn't even taken two steps back when something slammed into me with a bang! *groaning. I lost my footing, falling instantly. It felt like I was hit by a brick of wall because pain filled my body. I hadn't even gotten over that when a hand wrapped around my neck almost lifting me from the ground.

It was happening so fast!

Whoever this guy was has only one intention and that was to kill me.

I gasped as I tried to break free of his hold, feeling as though the air was being cut out of my throat. Regrets filled me at that moment; I shouldn't have followed Delaney, I was better off at the facility! At least there I could still live despite the amount of needles pierced into my skin daily.

At the thought of that, I lost all struggle in me and glanced at the most beautiful man I've ever seen in my life. His eyes...fire...

Was the last thing dancing in my head before my vision blurred. Just when I thought my life had come to an end, I was knocked out of his hands.

There was a commotion happening all around, screams from someone, and a fight broke even as everyone tried to stop him. I couldn't care less as I was busy panting and coughing my lungs out and at the same time, trying to suck in much breath as I can.

Someone in front of me handed me water but I flinched away, crawling to the side. I needed to get away from this place, another hellhole if you ask me. All at once, I began to wonder why my luck was just so bad, I kept encountering one thing to the next. Is the universe not trying to give me a sign at this point? That I'm cursed?

“Ruby! Calm down, it's me!”

The moment I heard Delaney's voice, I became frantic once more. The need to get away from her is even more so than when the scarred kid tried to kill me.

I should have known that it was all her plan to rescue me and give me hope about living life freely only to squash that the next moment. I'm the stupid one though, I can't blame her.

“Mom, let her be, she's scared of you...” It was the pretty pregnant lady who acted like a child earlier. “No one should get near.”

The other two males were nowhere to be seen but were probably fighting those two Alpha males that are after my life. I could only curl myself in a ball, the only safest place I could get. One of my habits I get during cold long nights I thought I would never survive.

“But that was not my intention. I don't want her to fear me, not after everything!” anxious, Delaney answered.

Thankfully, they didn't try to get too close and were only whispering silently...something I could hear.

“No one knows things will turn out this way. I don't know what came over Ivan and Ian! Ivan is supposed to be the coordinated one.” Ivy hissed.

“So what now?”

“Emrys and Luna! They are just kids, they should help.”

“I'm here!!!”

“Mummy!”

The twelve-year-old girl materialized from the sand, trying to scare off Delaney while the other ran full speed which belonged to a full-blooded vampire to hug his mom. Emrys. “I missed you, mummy!”

“Same honey, will you help mummy convince your new sister to come home and we are not bad people, okay?”

At that point, my head was already raised and I was peering at them trying to assimilate their scheme. My body stiffened ready to bolt when the two kids glanced at me. I watched in amazement as the girl disappeared right before my eyes turning into dust while the boy calmly walked over. But right before he would get to me, the little girl materialized in front of me butt naked again.

To say I was stunned would be an understatement.

“Ha!! Emrys, you're slow! I got to her before you!!”

The boy appeared beside her in a flash before pulling her hair. “Silly, not everything is about competition, Luna! Uncle Ivan told you didn't he?”

“Ouch! Be careful with the hair. Mummy!”

I could not blink. Instead stared at the pair in front of me as if they were monsters – ones in which I'd never met and had no experience dealing it. I mean, It's not like the facility could get their hands on supernatural kids or produce one.

The boy came closer, also peering at me with a strange pair of grey eyes, after a while, he sniffed. The girl noticed his actions and did the same, then gently touching my hair.

Do you know that state where you can see everything happening around you but don't know how to react? That's me right now!

I did not know what to do!

I couldn't push them away and I didn't know if I should run! They were so little in my eyes and for the first time since coming here, I relaxed. Just a bit.

“You are gonna be our sister?” Luna asks after a while, peering at me with large pretty eyes.

She proceeded to grab my face with her soft sandy hands, “Hmm, she's so pretty...”

“Luna, don't be rude!!” the boy states and grabs my hands, pulling me up. It was his way of acceptance. “Don't mind my sister, she's just too stubborn.”

He sounded more of an adult than a kid. I instantly knew the kid held a lot of knowledge despite his age. “My name is Emrys. I'm the cool one.”

“And I'm Luna!!! Everyone loves me.” she flashes me a cute toothy smile that is as beautiful as the first sunbeam glistening on the dew, and even I couldn't resist. I smiled back.

“So pretty.” they gushed.

Both kids stopped and gazed at me strangely making me pull back my smile. Maybe it's hideous and must have scared them. Damn it, I'm simply out of my element around these small half-beings! And what the hell is pretty?

“Common Ruby! Lemme show you my toys.”

“Me too!!”

“Yunno it will be cool having you as my sister. My other sister has no time for us, she has a grumpy mate who won't let us see her, and Uncle Ian and Ivan are too busy. You are Moon Goddess sent.” the two kids chatted on.

I felt like I was being charmed by these two and could not do anything about it. Just when we got in front of the mansion, I paused not daring to step inside. I didn't even realize I was shaking at the thought of entering a mere house. I can't shake off the fact that a cage may be in there or so.

Not to mention those two twins. I know they will come back and goodness knows what will happen then.

“Ughh, okay. My playhouse is this way.” Luna says pulling me in the opposite direction.

Emrys, on the other hand, looks up at me saying, “Uncle Ivan and Ian are not all that bad, just a bit harsh sometimes. I'm sure you'll love them someday as your big brother. ”

Hmm. Fat chances of that won't happen.

Behind them, Delaney and Ivy watched all these with their mouths open. When they left their sight, Ivy turned to her mother with a frown.

“Why do I feel replaced? I thought I was their elder sister. And how dare they call my mate grumpy mom?! And who is she? Sister, really?” she asked all at once searching her mom's eyes.

But as usual, she couldn't get anything from Delaney. As a seer, she can't disclose what she sees in her dreams, it's not like she understands them herself.

Ivy could only sigh while glancing towards the direction Ruby went. One thing is for sure, nothing will be the same again, especially with this girl around.

RUBY

Who said staying with the half-little beings would be the best choice? It was a disaster!! I would have left when I had the chance.

I thought feeling a wave of dizziness and an imaginary migraine coming on. Imaginary because supernatural beings don't get sick and even though I'm more of a human, I still have a little bit of supernatural streaks in me.

“Pretty Red! Look here let me show you what else I can do!” Luna squeaked trying to divert my attention from her brother.

I've come to realize that Luna has a competitive nature in her, always competing with her brother and oh, I learned she's a hybrid, half werewolf with a touch of earth element. Her powers deal with earth and anything that concerns land. While her brother, Emrys is a full-blooded vampire. I glanced over at Luna in time to see her growing a pretty lily flower. She then plucked it and rushed to give it to me. “For you!”

Not knowing what to do with it, I took it from her, brought it to my nose, and took a sniff. I was just about to stuff it in my mouth when Emrsy appeared from nowhere, slapping my hands. “That is not for eating, silly! Luna, what did mom tell you!”

Luna pouted her lips feeling wrong but didn't say anything knowing she was wrong.

“Common Red, let's get you food to eat.”

I understood what that meant cause they always talked about food back at the facility, they used that to punish us too knowing that as werewolves, we have big appetites so they limited our food thinking it would keep us weak but they never knew we saved our strength knowing full well it's pointless to try to escape. When Emrys stretched out his hands for mine, I hesitated. I knew going to get food meant we'd have to go back into the main house which also meant there would be chances of meeting them. The twins!

As if the vampire could read my mind, he came closer to whisper. “Don't worry Red, you won't see them. They are seldom home. Besides, Luna and I have been practicing undercover work for months. We can sneak into the house without anyone noticing.”

Undercover?

It didn't take long before I understood what they meant by that. The moment we arrived at the entrance, Emrys pressed himself to the wall by the right, Luna somersaulted by the left and whispered. “Over!!”

At this point, you can imagine how deep my frown was getting. I mean, what was I supposed to do now?

Emrys pulled me to his side after seeing my confusion, and mouthed, ‘Follow me.’

And so I did. I followed after him, watching as they ducked, somersaulted, and rolled on the ground. The only question I could ask myself was, ‘Am I supposed to join them?'

I decided to go about things my own way and chose to smell down the corridor. When I didn't see anyone, I shrugged and proceeded down without any formality. Once the half-little beings realized what I had just done, they could only follow behind. Fortunately, there was enough food in the pot despite the vacant kitchen. We all stood by the counter and hurriedly consumed the food, whatever it was, without bothering to sit down once Emrys finished serving it. It was the greatest thing I had ever tasted, I just knew that. I eventually flung the spoon Luna had given me and began eating with my hands, as is customary for me!

I was so engrossed in the food that I didn't even realize someone was watching me the whole time till they cleared their throat. All three of us spun instantly and eyed Delaney and Ivy who stood by the door, one with a shocked face and the other smiling. Slowly, I gulped the food in my mouth and frantically glanced around for an exit, cursing myself for letting my guard down all for food!

“Hey, it's okay Ruby. I'm not going to hurt you.” the heavily pregnant woman states as she takes tentative steps towards me. Sniffing, I knew she meant no harm but then they always seem to pretend that way isn't it?

Once she got to me, she took my hand and smiled. “See? We're not here to harm you, you need to believe that. Common, let me show you to your room.”

My eyes connected with the half-little beings to see them nodding and since I hadn't seen any cage or any suspicious thing, I decided to go against the voice screaming in my head not to go and followed her.

*

“Ahhhh.” a scream tore out of my mouth the moment Ivy switched on the faucet making her burst into laughter.

“Calm down, this is a tap. We call this water! You can shower here.”

I peeked out from the door – don't ask how I got there and saw her adjusting some things while giving a few explanations. Afterward, she made me take off my clothes and stand underneath the showerhead.

“Let me know when you're done okay?”

I nodded before closing my eyes. As the water cascaded down on my filthy body, I couldn't help but reminisce. The only time I get to bathe is when they blast us with freezing water sometimes before an experiment but now here... I'm in this stage of life where I'm lost, and helpless! Don't know what to do or go... Or who to trust.

Shaking those awful thoughts away, I decided to remain positive, since nothing bad had happened to me since I arrived, apart from those twins... I'm sure there's a misunderstanding somewhere.

With that thought in mind, I proceeded to turn off the tap as Ivy taught, only instead of turning off, a torrent of flaming water sprayed in all directions at once, startling me. Oh no, oh no. I touched something else while attempting to hit another button, increasing the water's force. To begin with, the bathroom is reminiscent of those luxurious five-star hotels, complete with many shower heads and a large jacuzzi that can accommodate four people... Ivy only showed me one button with the smallest shower head, who would have thought that I would encounter this?

Panic struck at once, thinking it was just another experiment and that I might drown because I had no experience in swimming. I swallowed and choked on the water, but I continued nonetheless. I didn't even realize I screaming, I just knew that I'd never done an experiment like this before, and I have to fight my way to the end.

Just as I was struggling to breathe and resisting the water's force... Abruptly, the faucet stopped.

As I forced myself to cough up the water, I became aware that I was on the ground and that blood was everywhere! I noticed this injury to my hand and knee in a matter of minutes; it must have happened while I was struggling.

Simultaneously, it dawned on me that the tap would not simply shut off by itself unless... My heart stopped as my gaze darted from the gash on my knee upward I found one of the twins gazing down at me...
