“Well that is it, I am not lying,” said Katherine with a low chuckle. 

Jaxon watched her for a few seconds then sighed. “You may be able to fool me for the first few days but not forever, Katherine. Not this long.” He glanced at William who was still in the bar before turning back to Kate. “I know he has been here in New York all this time. You do not need to cover for him anymore, Katherine. Tell me, are you truly unhappy with your marriage?” 

He continued to stare at her as he waited for her reply. He was truly worried and was never entirely convinced when his best friend had first informed him that she was going to marry his horrible ex, William. Even though she had never said it to him and despite her own words telling him that William had only been nothing but a summer memory, he always knew how much she actually liked that asshole.
