chapter twenty-six

ISABELLA’S POV

When I walked into the house, I saw him speaking into his phone as he stood close to the window. I couldn’t make out what he was saying as he spoke almost in hushed tones.

Seconds later, he finished with whomever he was speaking to, and turned towards me.

He walked to where I was standing and stood before me and for a few seconds, he just stood and stared at me. More like glared at me.

Then he exhaled deeply, his breathe laced with a hidden worry.

I worried he had come back to his senses and decided to kill me.

I waited for him to yell at me, push me out of the house.

“Stay in the room over there. I will advise you remain in there and not make a sound.”

“Is that all?” I asked.

“What more do you want?”

“Erm, well…” I shrugged. “Well, maybe you could start by telling me your name…I mean we are going to have to be in each other’s face for a while. Don’t I get a right to know what your real name is...that’s if you have any, I mean.”
