First Night and Results (Part 1)

DAVE

3 minutes and 2 seconds. Within three minutes I had finished the Simulation test. Piece of cake.

I wasn't even sweating. I don’t know who developed that test, it's not difficult at all. I felt like I just wasted my time.

"That was impressive, Dave. You never fail to surprise me with your deducing skills," Miss Dalia complimented me.

"Thanks," I replied, not really minding it. I was used to people praising me everytime I solve a case, may it be a murder case, robbery, or any other crime as long as it suited my interest.

The buzzer sounded to signal that the other Agents had finished their five minutes. In the glass tubes, there were tablets connected on the upper part of its door that indicated whether they have completed the test or not. In total, only four of us had “case closed” printed on the tablets. Then they were sure to enter the Sub-1 Detective Class. Others will be assessed based on the progress of their deduction. Some will go to the Lawyer's section or Police section.

One by one, the Agents went out of their glass tubes. Some even scratched their heads and some just smiled as if they had won the lottery.

"Agents, please proceed to the registration room and get your dorm keys there. We'll be posting the results tomorrow on the information wall. Good day!"

And because of that, we all went out. As I walked towards the dorm my eyes caught sight of my friends I had also not seen and been with for two months.

"Woah! David!" Eroll greeted me.

"Tsk."

"Oh, you're in a bad mood?" he asked.

“He was probably bored because of the simulation test,” Chris inserted into the conversation.

I laughed and Monica arrived just in time with a snack.

"Here," she softly said as she distributed the snacks to us. "Hey Dave, it's been a while. How's the simulation test? I'm sure you're the first one who finished it in your batch."

"Of course, I still am," I replied arrogantly.

"Hmm, well congrats. You'll be the first one on the list again this year."

"Let's see," I said before chewing on the lasagna.

"How was your task earlier?" Chris suddenly asked, pertaining to my whereabouts a while ago before the enrollment.

"Well, the heir of P&L Enterprise was missing. And I was tasked to look for that guy," I answered nonchalantly.

"WHAT?" they simultaneously questioned.

Eroll was the first to recover and asked, "Maybe she was kidnapped or something?"

“I don’t know,” was all I could answer because I didn’t want to talk about that thing first. I still thought she would never leave me. Well, as of now, I need to take care of something.

"I have to go. I need to settle some things."

"Okay, see you around, David!"

It was a tiring day.

I just lay on my bed thinking about what happened today.

This was my seventh year in this academy. I did nothing but study and solve various cases. I guess this is my life.

I was about to close my eyes when suddenly, the bell rang. I groaned. This is what I hate about this school. The first night party!

I could do nothing but get up. Some time later, I heard a series of knocks on the door. I quickly opened it and Eroll's face was exposed to me.

"Bro, let's go. We'll be late," he said then dragged me towards the field.

When we arrived there, I saw that some students were already surrounding a bonfire prepared by school staffs.

"I'm sure there are a lot of beautiful women scattered today," Eroll gushed beside me. I simply ignored what he said. It was just him being his manwhore self. I went to where Monica and Chris were sitting as they waved at us.

"Okay students. We want your first night here in Zyfford to be memorable, that's why, we are conducting the Party Night annually. You can do whatever you want tonight, just don't commit a crime, because surely, that would be another case to solve. So, enjoy the night dear students!" said Ms. Avi Santos.

The students shouted in excitement.

"I hope tonight will be memorable," Chris said.

"I agree," Monica clasped her hands with a hopeful look on her face.

"Why don't we go to the underground Bar!" suggested Eroll.

"That's a good idea. Let's get this over with," I said and walked ahead.

"Woah! What a miracle, you're not KJ now, David!"

The three of them laughed because of that.

I needed some drinks tonight. I stopped walking when Ms. Avi spoke again.

"By the way, the Head Master has a simple message to all of you," she began. "And it goes like this:

Willy got sick, but

Elijah is here tonight

Lucky he is

'Cause he will enjoy this party.

One, Two, Three, Four, he counts

Making his world go round and round

Expecting you to do the same. "
