Chapter Forty Two: Anger...

Gwendolyn arrived back from work looking extremely tired. She knocked on the door of her house, softly massaging her neck as she waited for her mother to get the door open. Her mother had taking another leave that day, and so would be in the house.

A few minutes later, her mother opened the door.

“Good evening.” Gwen greeted, making her way inside. “What took you long to open the door?”

She walked to the couch set and collapsed on it, throwing her bag on the ground. When her mother didn’t say anything, she glanced at her.

“Mum?”

Her mother had closed the entrance door, but she still stood next to it, lost in her thoughts.

“Mom.” Gwen called again, startling her mother out of her dream. She quickly looked at her daughter, her eyes glazed.

“Yes dear? What is it?”

Gwen sat up slowly, concern etched on her face. “Is something wrong?”

“No,” her mother said, forcing a laugh as she waved her hands. “Nothing is wrong. Don’t worry about it.”
