Confession of Love

Maxmillian Knight, as mighty as he felt he was, had to confess what he felt. He knew it was only that way Amelia would agree to stay back. He collected Amelia's box from her and gently began to unpack her clothes and hang them inside the wardrobe.

"What are you doing?" Amelia yelled.

"You can't leave," Maxmillian replied.

"And why is that?" she asked.

"Because!!!" He paused, stared at her, and noticed how her eyes almost shimmered with tears. He drew closer to her. "I'm sorry," he apologized.

"Hmm?"

"I'm sorry, Amelia. I didn't mean to make you feel this way," he said. "There's something I have to tell you," he said.

"What are you talking about?" Amelia asked him.

"All of these things I did to you weren't intentional. I have never meant to hurt you. Everything I did was... for me," Maxmillian added.

"I'm lost," Amelia replied.

"I have had this weird feeling for you for a very long time now. I thought yelling at you or forcing myself to hate you would change that. So, I purposely yelled at you and called you names, just so I'd dislike you. But nothing I did worked or changed the feelings I have for you," Maxmillian confessed. "I'm sorry it took me such a long time to tell you how I feel about you, how much I love you, but this is more complicated than it looks. And somehow, I don't want to get you involved with my life," he added.

"Am I dreaming?" Amelia asked rhetorically. "So all of this, everything you did to me, was on purpose because you were trying to hide what you feel for me?" She added.

"Yes. And I'm sorry," Maxmillian replied.

"Oh, fine, so what do you want me to do about this weird confession?" she asked.

"Don't go. I don't want you to go. I beg of you. We can work things out. I know how much you hate me, but I really wish that'll change. I really do want you to love me as much as I do," Maxmillian added.

"And you think by being mean to me all the time will change that?"

"Look, I was going to tell you. But every time I set my eyes on you, all I want to do is kiss you, hug you, hold you in my arms for a very long time. So I just end up getting confused every moment," he blurted out. "Amelia, I want you to be my woman, please." He pleaded, going on one knee.

Amelia felt totally confused. She moved to sit at the edge of her bed, leaving Maxmillian on his knee. He stood up from where he knelt and joined her on the bed. "You want me to be your woman?" she asked.

"Yes," Maxmillian answered.

Amelia fell quiet for a while. Her face looked pale. She lowered her head to avoid eye contact with her boss. "I'm sorry, I can't. I don't feel the same way you do, I don't love you," she confessed.

"I know, and that's why I'm not in a hurry, Amelia. We don't have to rush this. I can wait for as long as you want until you are able to love me the same way I do. I want you to be my forever. Yes, it sounds crazy and all, but there's absolutely no one I'd want to share my bed with other than you," Maxmillian said.

"Okay, okay, okay," Amelia snapped. "You don't have to go all romantic with words. Can you just give me some time to think about it?" she asked.

"No," Maxmillian replied.

"What? You ain't expecting me to give you my answers right away," Amelia yelled.

"I don't want you to think about anything. I just want you to say yes," he commanded.

"What if that decision is against my wish?" Amelia asked.

"We can work on that," Maxmillian replied.

She stared at him this time, looking straight at his face but careful not to make any visual contact. She noticed the mild smile on Maxmillian's face and how bright his facial expression was.

"I have never seen you smile before," she added.

"Well, you'd get to see plenty of that if you say 'YES' to my proposal," Maxmillian said.

"Alright, fine," Amelia said, standing up from the bed where she sat. "It's not like you are giving me any option right now, so yes, I agree to be your woman," Amelia agreed.

Just immediately, Maxmillian jumped up from the bed, hugging her really tight. He adjusted a little, staring at her face, still noticing that she couldn't make eye contact with him. He slowly placed his hands on her cheek, forcing her face and eyes to meet with his, and just at the moment, he placed a quick kiss on her lips.

"I have been wanting to do that for a very long time," he said.

Amelia gazed up at him. His height forced her to look up at him. "You must be starving," he said.

"Oh, no. I'm good," Amelia countered immediately.

"I have also wanted to cook for you. I'm a good cook. You know what, just put your clothes back into the wardrobe, freshen up, and then come to the dining room. I will make something special for you," Maxmillian said.

Overwhelmed with joy, as he had confessed his feelings to Amelia, something he had wanted to do for a very long time. The moment he left her room, his mood turned sour. He remembered he wasn't human, and that the rules abiding his supernatural life against relationships with humans would never end good.

Back in the room, Amelia shivered. The fact that she is currently dating her once arrogant and rude boss kept reverberating in her head. She placed her fingers on her lips, feeling the kiss he had placed on it, while she reminisced about the way he stared at her romantically. She let out a weird smile, her heart beating softly as she fell flat on her back, on her bed.
