Chapter 26

Bella’s pov

Late at night, Haydn and I lay in bed together. Haydn held me tightly, leaving no space between us. Lately, he had been tense, constantly worrying about my safety. Wherever I went, he accompanied me, always by my side.

"Tomorrow, I want to visit the slums." Some of the girls rescued from the kidnappers had been returned home, but others were left homeless, residing in the slums. Judy and Jean, my friends, were in such a situation, and I wanted to check on how they were doing.

"Why do you want to go to the slums?" Haydn didn't immediately agree, not wanting Bella to go out alone under any circumstances.

"I want to see Judy and Jean."

"I've already sent aid to them and the other people in the slums; enough to sustain them for several months." Speaking of the slums, Haydn couldn't help but think of the poor girl Lily and her grandmother.
