Chapter Fifty-Nine

One week later the whole group was seated in the Lovell family room, deciding what to do on this Saturday night. “Okay, we have a month and a half until graduation.” Madison looked back at Jacob, who was getting orange-stained fingers from picking out Cheetos from the bag. “Well, some of us have that long.” Jacob wouldn’t graduate until the following year. “Are we all still going to prom?” None of them had ever been to prom, except Jacob, since it was only a junior and senior event. Jacob was always asked by an upperclassman, so that was the only reason he got to go.

“Ugh, do we have to?” Jacob whined about Madison’s suggestion, but quickly shut his mouth when she shot him a dirty look.

Some of us,” Madison glanced over at her mate, who was still shoveling Cheetos in his mouth, “have never been to the prom and maybe would like to experience this whole new event while we can.”<
