Chapter Sixty
“Everything okay?” Emily was the first to express concern when Alex and Danny came back in.
“Well.” Danny knew he had to say or do something, he just wasn’t sure what. All eyes were on him, waiting for some type of announcement. “Alex and I are mates.” Madison and Emily looked at him with curious expressions, while Zach and Jacob seemed stunned that he came out so boldly with his statement. They both knew about her and how they were mated, but didn’t think he’d just come right out in the middle of their group and say so.
“So, what do you mean?” Madison knew exactly what he was talking about, but wanted him to be the first to explain so that way they could all come out of the closet per se.

The following three weeks passed and nothing had changed as far as telling anyone else, meaning Zach and Jacob’s father, about the bonding that had gone on and who Emily was. The group was getting ready for prom and most were scheduling everything that they needed done before graduation. ***“Why the hell can’t I get these stupid things buttoned?” Emily was wrestling around with a pair of her favorite shorts that she’d bought last fall. “Bro’, you’re on Adam’s shit list now.” Jacob greeted Zach at the front door when he finally got home the next morning. Jacob waited patiently in the parking lot for school to be let out. He’d spent the day out doing a lot of nothing. He realized without having Madison around, or any of the pack, there just wasn’t much to do in West Lakes. He heard the final bell ring and saw the students flooding out through the main doors. Most were heading to the buses parked along the curbside but there were several walking down the sidewalk toward the student parking lot. One was Madison.
