Harper's POV

Smelling damp and moldy, I opened my eyes and found myself in total darkness.

Oh yes, the soldiers threw me straight into the dungeon. I thought I was going to die. The severe pain in my ribs reminded me that the beating I had just received was real.

It was the first time I'd set foot in King City, but I didn't expect to be trapped in this gloomy cell. Everything around me made me feel scared and hopeless, but what made me even more disturbed was the truth I had just learned.
