A Call From An Old Friend

Marcus must have figured out that his words have gotten her in a fix because he sits back in his chair, a satisfied expression on his face.

Emily gets to her feet, murmuring to the Alpha about needing to think over the new revelation. She goes out of the room but not before hearing his voice float to her,

"Yes, you have always been mine, your father gave you to me. You better remember that in whatever you decide to do."

She rushes outside for some fresh air, and as soon as she closes the front door behind her, her phone rings. About damn time, the thing has stayed silent for too long.

Often, it was her mom and her ex mate, Jack, that used to keep her phone busy, and now with both of them out of her life, she guesses it must be one of her two closest friends.

And she is right.

There's Ella's name on the screen, the girl she has known since she was a kid. They watched each other grow up in the trailer pack, shared long conversations about leaving the small town and exploring big cities
