CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

Nora’s POV

“You are so lovely,” Jake whispered after he had kissed me. He had wanted to kiss my lips, but I moved because it was on my cheeks. As much as I didn’t want to be kissed, I really have to agree. I still liked Jake. I don’t understand what or how my body was reacting after the kiss. My head felt light, and I blushed bright red.

"No, don’t hide your face; I really admire you.” He said. I smiled. It took me a while to raise my head, and when I did, I could immediately see the Jake I had fallen madly in love with. He smiled at me. Same old smile. I was beginning to memorize his smile in my head until he did that with Maria. At the thought of her, I snapped and looked away. Jake noticed my withdrawal but didn’t know what to say. And so we sat in silence watching the moon until he finally spoke up.

“Can we have dinner?” He stared at my face. He was gauging my reaction.

I chuckled. "Stop watching me. Yes, I will have dinner with you,” and so we left.

Our dinner was a dance of nerv
