8. Ineffective Charm

Alistair’s POV

Her flustered face never gets old. I can’t get enough of her unexpected facial expressions. To think that someone as pretty as her could make funny faces too makes it worth spending my time just watching her.

"I heard you want to have breakfast here. Do you mind if I join?"

Alicia stares at me and sighs. "I’m fine by myself. Besides, I don’t think you like eating in the dark," she says, averting her gaze.

Indeed. She seems more comfortable in the dark. I wonder if there’s any reason behind it.

"I don’t mind," I say, smiling at her. "I want to spend time with you as much as I can."

"You don’t have any work to do?" She raises her eyebrow, throwing me a skeptical look. "You can't just laze around because you have to entertain your guest, do you?"

I do have some paperwork to take care of, but that’s why I have my Gamma to do those things when I’m not available.

"It’s fine," I say. She need not worry about my schedule. "I always have time for you."
