Prologue

Kai's POV

"Look what is happening, take a look closer in the consequences of your choices. Is this what you really want? To see them fighting and dying?" I grabbed her and make her face the war happening in front of us.

I feel weaken, the war was started in 1:00am midnight but it's already 4:00 am and it isn't done yet. Many has injured, some of our wolves are died. While, I got so much injuries but I still manage to find her. She has the capacity to stop this rivalry. 

"Of course, that's not what I want," she said between her sobs.

"I just want a freedom but why this is happening?" She added.

"You should have known that your freedom can cause bloods and deaths," I angrily said.

"Then what you want me to do? Marry you? Even though, we both know that I don't like you?" She said while, not breaking our eye contact. Dude it hurts, the girl I want will never like me back.

"I don't care whether you like me or not, but will you really be that selfish?" I said then looked away.

"You want me to sacrifice myself, my happiness?" She asked in low voice like she's losing her energy.

"If that could save a life, why not? Think carefully, their lives, our lives is in your hands. If you choose to be blind on what's happening then, I wish that the Moon Goddess will make us understand your choices," and I let her go.

When I let her go that's my sign that I will let her choice what she want. Too confused on her choices, a wolf tried to attack her so I covered her.

The sharp teeth of rival wolf penetrate to my left arm. I didn't transform instantly because his attack was so sudden.

"Aaahhhh! Owooooo!" I started to transform so I can fight with him. 

I was born to fight, I was trained to be a good fighter to protect my clan because I will be their next Alpha. 

The bruise I get is still hurt but I managed to win in our fight. Another batch of packs came, I saw that Lai already transformed and ready to fight. 

Driven by my ego, I attacked them first but it's not a wise move. So I ended up hurting more.

"What are you doing, take it easy," Lai said through our minds. 

Then another wolf tried to attack me but Lai protected me. Honestly, due to tiredness, I'm not that to strong to fight again. But then I'll feel ashamed if Lai will just protect me, that's not a next Alpha characteristics.

I did not go to school, studying and training to be just like this, weak and protected by someone, by girl, my ego won't let me.

I took all the courage to fight again. I'm the next Alpha, I should not stop, I should not ask help to anyone, I should be the one who is protecting them. 

Suddenly I feel strong to fight again, five wolves has just injured, the remaining five run away. 

I took a glance on Lai, who is also tired. We need to go with our clan, our safety here isn't guaranteed. 

I and Lai should be mate by tomorrow midnight because if not, for sure constant war will happen. But Lai don't like to be mate with me, she like someone else.

"Let's go to our camp," she said in sad voice.

"Does it mean that our mating will happen?" I asked with full of energy and she nod as respond.

We both go to the battle field. Yes, I admit that I'm happy, that finally our mating will happen. Lai is the Luna I'm dreaming of.

When we got there, I make go signal so they can notice us.

"Aaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwoooooooooo!" I said in strong and loud sound

Everyone stopped, then it's Lai turn,

"Awwwwwwwwoooo!" She said in loud sound.

It's the signal that our mating will happen. Our opponent wolves started to step back because they know that if they continue they will die.

Our mating is powerful, we will be the most powerful couple among the wolves. That's how important our mating, that's why if it won't happen, war will start and many will die. 

We leave at the battle field and go back to our camp site. Tomorrow, I don't need to worry about bloods and deaths because the mating will happen.

(The day of Mating) 

Two hours before the mating, everything is already settled. We will wear the most beautiful and precious clothes and eat the most delicious foods.

Everyone is excited because it will mark a new beginnings.

"Kai," Dad said, he's the our current Alpha but he will turn over his position to me before our wedding.

"Hmm?" I said while busy checking my stuff.

"Before I turn over the position to you, I want to ask if you really want it? Being an Alpha is a noble but it takes so much responsibility," he said and sat beside.

He don't want me to be an Alpha, he wants me to have a normal life. He said that he suffered and lost a lot when he choose to be Alpha.

"I already think about it carefully, I studied and trained, I'm born and prepared for this. I will do my best to protect them just like what you always do," I proudly said.

"If that's your decision then please come out in few minutes, the turn over will start." He said and leave.

I do breathing exercise and checked myself before going out.

"Please bow as our new Alpha will enter," our Lycan said, our leader and father of Lai.  

Everyone bowed at me even our Lycan so in return I bowed my head also.

"Today, by the power given to me by our Moon of Goddess. I want to start the rites of turn over of an Alpha to his son," Lycan begin the rites by transforming into wolf.

Then he cut his wrist and he cut mine. We did a blood compact and all the wolves started to transform and howl.

After the turn over, everyone started to eat.

I looked after Lai but she is nowhere to be found. My heart beats fast, did she run away again? How about our wedding? I looked for her everywhere and I found her on the entrance to the human world.

I knew it, that despite of what will be the consequences of her choices, she will selfishly choose herself. 

She's about to enter but I called her.

"Lai," she turned around, look shocked.

"Please, please Kai Let me go, let me choose my happiness." She is begging me and it hurts seeing her want so bad to run away from me.

But my feelings nor her feelings isn't matter now, what matter is the safety of our clans.

"Think carefully Lai, consider our clans, your family." I'm begging her not to go.

"Stop! Stop using that. It's your responsibility to protect them. Hate me all you want but this," she paused "I want to choose myself," she continued between her sobs and she looked so weak.

She's about to go but I grab her. She push me instead and looked away, slowly she get a silver sharp object at her pocket.

"If you won't let me, you will die," she said slowly.

"I will kill you." She added like she can do it.

Slowly I feel weaken so I step back. Her aura is different, holding the silver sharp object, like she's planning to stab me. 

"I will kill you…" she said again but this time it's like I don't know her anymore. I feel frighten.
