Tempting Fate

Samantha’s POV

“Excuse me, what did you just say?” I looked at Lucien as if he had lost his mind.

Things had started off fine this morning. We had made our way downstairs and I was in the middle of cooking breakfast when I decided to ask him about the treaty. I don’t know for sure if it was the way he kept trying to dodge the question or the fact that we were still alone in the house but I knew there was more to the story than he was telling me.

“There is a clause in the treaty that states neither pack can cross into the other’s territory without starting a war.”

Once again he said it just like he was saying it was going to rain this afternoon. “Lucien he is your brother. Don’t you want to get to know him?”

“No,” Lucien said looking up at me. “He seems decent enough for a rouge but there is nothing to tie me to him, Sam.”
