Anger burns heavy in my chest as I climb the stairs to the main floor of the warehouse. They hacked her wings off. Took away her ability fly, to be free. Alpha Donahue was right; angels live for flying and the freedom it gives them. Depending on the injury, an angel can grow their wings back, but I have never seen one come back from what I just witnessed. If she can heal her fingers, I pray she can heal her wings. Michael mentioned similar injuries and he healed from that, but it took time. A lot of time. Time we may not have, I’m afraid. Alpha Drake’s laugh pulls me from my reverie. He is washing his hands and forearms to clean the splattered blood off them. His sleeves are rolled up clear to his elbows. He leans down and cups his hands in t
I had intended for this chapter to be posted last night, but I was exhausted and the fight scene just lacked soooo much so I opted to wait and write while I was fresh and could think straight. Let me know what you think! Happy reading! I also wanted to thank you for gifting your gyms. This book has made it to the Hot Werewolf category and that helps it gain more views. I appreciate your support and am so grateful for you! Vivi xoxo
---Mathias--- “Are your wings healed?” I ask when we are outside, and Divinashakes her head no. “There wasn’t enough time, she says and drops to her knees several feet inside the tree line. “We need to be able to fly get back in time,” I say softly. “I can take Milly back and send someone to come back for you.” Divina wraps her arms around herself and rocks slightly back and forth. I jump and Milly whimpers when she lets out a keening cry that turns into a scream before slamming her hands so hard into the g
--Almost Four Weeks Ago--- Aria and I are sitting on the little bench by the koi pond. “I have something to tell you, Divina, but you have to promise to keep it between us,” she says, and I can see tears forming in her eyes, but they haveyet to fall. I nod my head and wait for her to continue. “I have a daughter. She’s four and no one here knows about her. She’s been taken and I am risking her life by telling you this, but I also think you may be the only one who can save her after talking with my brother,” she continues, twisting her hands in her la
Greg wakes me up when we get back to Timberwolf Pack. “We’re here, Divina,” he says. I look around groggily and yawn. Rubbing my hands over my face, I peer out the windshield. “I’m so exhausted,” I say. Greg and Aria both chuckle at me. “What’s the plan?” Greg asks. “I’m here long enough to get Alina and see Little Ember before I head back to Bright Moon Pack. I will come back in a week or so to check on Ember again,” I tell him. “We’re coming with you,” Greg says. I smile at him and shake my head. “I think you should talk to Aria first. Aria backs out of the SUV with Milly in her arms and says, “We’ve already discussed it. Until we get all this figured out, Greg and I will be where you are.”
“And you believe this prophecy?” I ask. “I don’t know, but we can’t ignore your name,” Greg says. “My name?” I ask and look at him in confusion. Greg looks at me like I am missing something big. “What?” I ask and throw my arms out wide. “Why are you looking at me like that?” “Because your name literally means, Divine Warrior Angel and Alina means Light.” Greg says and looks at me in exasperation. “Okay, then whois this person of darkness I’m supposed to conceive a baby with?” I say and cross my arms. “You are going to have to put those pieces together yourself,” Greg says and stands. “We will stand with you and back you every step of the way, but you have to stand on your own two feet this time. I thought I was helping you before, but I think I was
“You think Warrick is a hybrid?” I ask. “I do.” my dad says. “What is he mixed with then?” I ask and pinch my bottom lip between my thumb and pointer finger. This is too much.“I think he is part werewolf and part demon,” my dad says, effectively knocking the air out of my lungs. I stumble back, a pained cry comes from my lips. “No. He can’t be! Demons are evil creatures, dad!” My dad steps forward and places his hands on my shoulders. “Divina, look at me.” When I don’t, he shakes me slightly. My eyes find his and he holds my gaze. “Just because a person is part demon, does not inherently make them automatically bad. Just as you being part angel, does not automatically make you automatically good. Do you understand?” I sigh. “Yes, I understand.”
A knock on my bedroom door draws our attention much to my relief. “Come in,” I call, and Greg steps through my door with two dresses with plastic covers over them. “Luna Maria asked me to bring these to your room so Gloria and Bren can...” Greg’s words trail off as he focuses on me. “Umm, wow. You look... great?” His words come out as a question and I cringe, touching my hair. “Is it that bad?” I ask. His eyes go wide, and he hurriedly sets the dresses down on my bed before coming to me and grasping my hands. “No, no. That’s not what I meant. It’s just. Am I even allowed to compliment you anymore? I’ve been so comfortable around you for so long, I don’t want to cross any lines. Really, you look breathtaking,” he says and flashes me his familiar smile. “Thanks,” I say and smile at Aria as she appears in the doorway. She smiles back and rolls her eyes. “He worries too much,” she says and walks over to us, wrapping her arms around his waist and standing on he
---Warrick--- Seeing her for the first time since that day at Timberwolf pack nearly ruined me. I ambarely able to hold myself back from pushing through the crowd to get to her.I need to get a hold of myself. I have a part to play today, and I can't let what I want get in the way of that. I drink her in. Thosegorgeous blue eyes, beautiful golden skin, and that hair. I had no idea when she colored it, but she didn’t look as if she belonged this world. Maybe she didn’t. She definitely didn’t belong to me anymore. The mate bond’s pull on me is justas strong as it waswhen I first laid eyes on her and I wonder if she can still feel it. She has never accepted my rejection, so I am inclined to think she feels our bond as strongly as
Chaos erupts around us as the crowd scrambles to get out of Vanessa’s trajectory. She plows through anyone who is in her way and the murderous rage that fills her eyes is focused solelyon Divina. All I can think about is protecting her. I can’t let anything happen to her again. I have to get her out of here. The crowd surges against us and I lose my grip on her. I spin around and search the crowd for Divina, but I can’t find her. “NO!” I scream and push against the flow of the panicked guests. Sheappears to the right of where I last saw her and instead of running away from Vanessa, she is heading straight for her with Alina circling around the other side as if to try and drive Vanessa back away from the everyone. Panic feels me as I watch the three of them collide. They go down in a tangle oflimbs, kicking up dirt and dust. I can’t see or hear anything and anger heats at my chest as I fight to get through the crowd. “Get the fuck ou
