Chapter 93

AVA’s POV

I saw one of the men holding a device that was both producing the sound of numerous heartbeats and wafting out different scents of food. That made me deduce that those guys knew about werewolfs, and they were certainly not friendly. I felt them coming closer to me as I lay on the ground, grimacing. I noticed that I said felt, not heard. That's right, they didn't have footsteps, and once I listened past the fake heartbeats, I realized that they didn't have heartbeats as well.

That was an anomaly, and I'd never heard or seen something like that before. Even werewolfs had heartbeats; did that mean that there were other kinds of supernaturals out there?

One of the men raised his hand to his ear, and what I heard made me realize that I had just gotten into more danger than I could have ever thought possible.
