A Lie Lasts But A Moment

To stop Chris's screaming, I chomp off his head. Soon, I heard a woman say, "It was coming from this area."

His head is in my mouth. I open it as wide as it goes and swallow his head whole. It's lodged in my throat, so I gag until it comes out. It thumps when it hits the ground, and the male voice asks, "Did you hear that? Or was that thunder?"

Luckily, they walk the opposite way. Carefully, I drag Chris further into the trees and start eating him to get rid of his body. The more I chew, the more delight I experience, but my heart hardens.

It's a strange but real change that my soul can feel. It's as if the blood pumping through my heart is turning to ice. Cold and prickly. As I'm chewing, a flashlight lands on me. Both their eyes are bulging out of their sockets.
