Twenty-three
Declan, the newly announced Delta of the pack, turned out to be Rowena’s mate. There was a sparkle in her eyes I had never seen before and honestly, love looked gorgeous on her; it suited her and complimented her already beautiful features.
I expected Xander to give Declan the 'talk’, but that didn't happen. I thought that what I saw in the movies would happen in real life, but it completely slipped my mind that we weren't humans. We were werewolves. Mates were more protective over one another more than any family member could ever be, so Xander didn't need to tell Declan anything, knowing that he would protect Rowena with his life.
We expected Rowena to move out almost immediately, but she said that she needed a few days to adjust to the change. She said that she wasn't ready yet to leave her family's place and Declan respected that.
Xander assured him that he was welcome to come and stay the night at any time until Rowena was ready to adjust.
