Chapter 2 - Evil temptress or innocent girl?

Irina

“HONEY! THERE IS SOMEONE AT THE DOOR FOR YOU!” My mom shouted upstairs and I rushed down without even thinking about it. The older man stepped through the door and I hit a total blank. He was carrying a huge bunch of flowers and I took them as he offered them to me.

“Hi, I’m Hunter.” He smiled and I looked at my mother while trying my best to balance the flowers. The arrangement was so huge that I was having a hard time holding onto it.

“Let me take that for you sweetheart,” My mother smiled and took the huge vase from me. She winked and I frowned. What the hell was she winking at?! “You can talk outside on the porch if you want some privacy. Daddy is outside in the garage and I will be in the kitchen.” My mother laughed, making me frown even deeper as I bit down on my bottom lip.

How the hell did he find me? Was he some kind of stalker, or kidnapper?! I closed the door behind us as I showed him to the porch. Taking a seat on the single chair, I blinked at him for a moment, seeing a tiny drop of sweat start to form on his brow.

“I’m Irina.” A silly giggle escaped and I rolled my eyes as amusement formed in his.

“I know. I’m sorry to just barge in like this.” He rubbed palms on the sides of his pants and finally sat down, but he was actually looking very nervous. I frowned, realizing he already knew my name.

“Listen, I don’t know who you are …” I jumped up and quickly made my way closer to the door when I noticed he hadn’t moved at all.

“I’m Hunter. I’m sure you’ve heard about my pa … my family and me, who live out in the woods just outside of town.” He sighed and stood up when I didn’t make any move to sit back down. “I know it looks strange that I came to your house, but I was hoping I could take you out to dinner.” He threw his arms in the air as if he thought I was going to say no and I thought about saying no for a moment then decided against it. If I was ever going to find the perfect guy to build my perfect life with, I had to start dating somewhere!

“Okay,” I crossed my arms and smiled at him. His face lit up for a moment before it changed again as he stuffed his hands inside his pockets.

“Great. I will pick you up at seven tonight.” He nodded and as he was making his way down the stairs I yelled after him.

“Where are we going? I just want to know what to wear.” I tilted my head to one side. He was older, but he was damn handsome! One date couldn’t hurt, could it? There have been no serial murders in our town. There was just the odd animal attack, so I believed I would be safe with him. He also brought flowers to my house, and my mother saw his face. Yeah, there was no way he was going to kill or kidnap me.

“We are just going for dinner. Something nice, but not too formal.” He smiled as he walked and my stomach made a little flip. Wow, his smile was absolutely gorgeous. Only then did I notice the black SUV that had been parked in front of our home. A guy dressed in black jeans and a white shirt opened the back door and Hunter climbed in and I waved as they drove off. As soon as they were out of sight, my mom appeared on the porch, making me realize I had been staring at the empty street.

“Well, he sure seemed nice.” She winked at me. There was a bit of an age difference between my parents as well, but if I had to take a guess, I would say it wasn’t as huge as the one between me and Hunter. It didn’t matter anyway. He would quickly find out I wasn’t what he was looking for and all of this would be over. I decided to do a little of social stalking and rushed up to my room to check him out.

OKAY, SO ASKING the girl out on a date wasn’t entirely the plan. I was going to go to her house and reject her even if she wouldn’t understand what I was doing. That was until I saw her standing there in front of me. She didn’t have any make-up on and her hair was tied into two braids. Her shorts nearly showed half her butt and her shirt pulled up just high enough that I could see her belly button when she crossed her arms.

She was an evil temptress and an innocent human all rolled into one and that was what intrigued me the most. She seemed so innocent, yet at the same time, I nearly pulled her into my arms and kissed her! That was when I decided on dinner. There was no rush in rejecting her, was there? It wasn’t like she was out prowling for a mate.

The information I was able to gather about Irina was actually surprising. She was a straight A student and had apparently never had a boyfriend. She worked weekends at the local flower shop, and although she went out with some wild friends, she hardly ever drank. Her parents had been together forever and they had been living in that little house of theirs since the day they got married.

Her grandparents had all passed away and she had no siblings. She had just finished school and the mere thought of it made me picture her in a school uniform sucking on a lollipop. I shook the thought out of my mind as soon as I felt my pants pinch in my crotch area! I was going to have to think of something neutral at dinner if I was going to stop myself from ripping her clothes off!
