Chapter 45

Alpha Daniel's POV

Everything seemed to be in place apart from the air of doom that lingered around the room. It wasn’t quite as suffocating as one would imagine, just the opposite, in fact - it was downright warm and comforting, even for someone like myself. I took little steps unsure of letting my guard down.

The possibility that someone could jump out of this room and try to kill me didn’t seem that far-fetched. After all, I did have a lot of unexplainable things going on recently…I was still getting used to the whole ‘being alive’ thing after all. Even if no one knew what I really was going through.

“Adela?” I called out but the echoes of my voice bounced back at me from the walls. My voice sounded so loud in here compared to everything else. As though my life was a bubble that surrounded me, which it kind of was. And I didn’t feel any different here. Nothing had changed…not physically anyway. So, why would there be any difference mentally?

“Adela, are you in here?” I tried again
