Chapter 57

Angel's POV

I ran through the dark, eerie forest searching for someone, anyone that could help me. Leaves and branches crunched underneath my bare feet as I made my way deeper and deeper into the forest. My heart was pounding, my breathing coming out in short, painful pants. I could feel the wolfsbane wearing off, but there was still enough in my system that prevented me from communicating with Kira. I needed to find somewhere safe to hide until I could shift again.

It was a chilly night. Fortunately, I was still wearing warm clothes, but that didn't stop my body from shivering with fear. I ran until my feet were numb and bloody from stepping on sharp twigs. Deciding to camp out for the night, I climbed up a large tree until I found a branch that could support my weight. I laid against the trunk, taking deep, calming breaths. I took the bottle of water out of my bag and quenched the dry burning in my throat. Then, I sprayed another lay
