Amia leaned in. Her lashes fluttered as her eyes closed, and her plush pink lips were begging me to close the distance. I inched forward, stopping myself from doing just that. Instead, I memorized the freckles dusted across her nose. Lifting my hand, I placed my finger in front of her lips. They spread and when she realized I wasn’t kissing her, her eyes flashed open. She opened her mouth, the fury evident in her gaze, but I beat her to it.

“I’m not finished with my story, and you have more questions. I don’t think we’ll get much done if we kiss because it won’t stop there,” I hummed.

Her cheeks flushed a deer scarlet, and my wolf and I preened at the knowledge we did that. She huffed and leaned back, crossing her arms as she glared at me. I’m right and she knows it, but Amia doesn’t like being denied. I don’t need her to say a word. As much as I’m sure she has a few for me.
