Feeling as if the fight was leaving my body, I stopped struggling. The pain was too much to take. My skin felt like it was being torn from my body. Nothing I was doing was working. Still, I heard my mother's words echoing in my head, on constant repeat. As much as I didn’t want to give up, I didn’t know what else to do.
Nothing in my life has ever gone right, I was just one big living disaster. It had been easier to feel the numbness. At least then I wouldn’t feel so hopeless right now. If only there was some way to figure out what I was supposed to do. My thoughts were racing, I just couldn’t make sense of any of it.
“How can I help?” I heard Caleb’s voice fill my head.
“Tell me how to fight the darkness. Everything I try is useless. I am supposed to remember who I am and where I come from, but I don’t know what any of that even means. How does that help me?” I whimpered.

Caleb-My decision to leave hadn’t been premeditated. I had no intentions of leaving, but after last night I knew I needed to. As much as I tried to ignore what Kyra and Hunter were doing all night, it had been impossible.
