Chapter Ninety-Six

I made it just in time. The past twenty-four hours have been intense. I got pulled over twelve times on my way back. The last couple of times I had gotten lucky. I wonder how many speeding tickets one can get in a day, without being arrest. I managed twelve, but I think I just got lucky.

I haven’t told anyone that I was on my way back, I didn’t want to upset Kyra if I didn’t make it back in time. But as I slipped in behind the Altar, the ceremony in full swing, I had to take a deep breath, or rather catch my breath. I ended up totaling the rental car about fifteen miles out and had to run the rest of the way.

I couldn’t see Kyra’s face, but I watched as her spine straightened and she started looking around. I knew she could sense me, just the same as I could sense her when she was near.
