CHAPTER 28

The door flew open and light from the hallway flooded the room entrance. I stared like a fool as the Alpha's large frame filled the doorway. His eyes darted between me and the broken frame on the floor.

"What the fuck are you doing in here?" he asked through gritted teeth.

"I... I... the painting" I stammered in fear.

"Who asked you to be in here?" he stormed inside and pushed me away from the pieces on the floor. I caught myself with the wall but suffered some bruises from the impact. I watched dumbfounded as he knelt and picked the pieces of glass from the floor.

"Nobody is supposed to be fucking in here" he shouted angrily still not taking his eyes away from the floor. He was reacting calmly. Way more calm than I expected him to be. I expected him to rage, break something and threaten to kill me.

"I'm sorry" I apologized genuinely. I was going to leave the room and I didn't have plans to destroy the painting. It just happened and although he didn't look angry, I still needed to
