My attempts to persuade her with my words were fruitless. She was unmoved. She maintained her composure and her gaze remained unchanged; it was icy cold yet unwavering. I held back a gasp the entire time she was talking, but as soon as she opened her mouth to speak, it came out of nowhere. I had been holding my breath the entire time.

Her mouth remained slightly ajar until I raised the arch of my eyebrow. She made a throat clearing motion and glared at me as though she didn't believe what I had said. "Stop talking gibberish with me."

I rolled my eyes and heaved a sigh before shaking my head. "If what I am saying to you right now makes no sense, then, my darling, your previous statements made even less sense."
