Chapter Sixty-Two

Arabella’s POV

As I put the phone to my ear and shouted for Trudy, her voice as she said my name was tinged with a tremor that sent a shiver down my spine. In that moment, fear gripped my heart, and a wave of sickness threatened to overwhelm me. But before I could conjure a list of worst case scenarios, Trudy's voice suddenly burst with joy as she screamed “CONGRATULATIONS BITCH!”

Startled by the sudden shift in tone, I couldn't help but feel faint.

Leaning forward, I took a moment to compose myself, my hand trembling slightly as I lifted the phone away from my ear. Taking a few deep breaths, I willed my racing heart to slow down, the adrenaline of the moment still coursing through my veins.

After a few moments, I brought the phone back to my ear, my voice calmer now as I spoke to Trudy. "You had me worried. I thought something was wrong.“
