Chapter Seventy-Three: For Me

‘I wouldn't?’

What was that supposed to mean?

'I wouldn't?'

Adrian toyed with the words again; they made little sense, considering his Beta’s words earlier.

"You said before that I should visit the room before ‘it's too late’, and then now you say, ‘I wouldn’t’? Are you testing me?"

"No."

His beta responded before stepping aside.

Again, Leon offered contradictory body language.

With a tired sigh, he turned to the door; no sooner had his arm reached for the handle than the door flew open, and the queen stepped out. Her eyes were puffy and wet, while her nose remained an irritated shade of pink, perhaps from the constant sniffing she seemed to do. She looked dishevelled.

Her golden eyes raised to his before she visibly stilled.

"Alpha."

Her call was not a greeting; she was angry. He couldn't place why, but his legs moved towards the room she exited.

"A little privacy, Alpha!"

The Queen insisted as her hand flew across the door, keeping him from pushing it open.
