Chapter Fifty-Four: Drowning

DEVYN’S POV

I rubbed my temples, tension suddenly weighing on me. The cause of the child’s death was still unknown, and I felt the longer we took to find it, the nearer an impending doom drew.

As I approached the meeting ground, Liam and Gina were already there waiting, along with Diana.

We had some unexpected visitors today, and that was exactly why I was here.

There were two women, one younger and the older slightly older.

The younger woman had skin as pale as alabaster, and her hair had a similar color to Diana’s pale gray. Her features were soft and feminine. The older woman had masculine features, with brown hair and forest-green eyes. I noticed the birthmark on their necks, indicating their origin.

Witches.

Apart from Diana who was a half-breed witch, these were the first witches I had ever seen. They were very good at hiding, so the possibility of seeing one was zero. They could only be seen, when they wanted you to see.
