He explained, "Jessie doesn't seem to understand the situation and thinks I'm cheating on her with Kamara. Even though Jessie is the Luna, I can't leave the pack with her; it would be too dangerous. She's been on edge lately."

Lisa cleaned her hands on the apron and sighed while shaking her head.

"Are you okay with me leading the pack while you're away?" Lisa enquired, anticipating the response.

"Of course mother. You are the only one I can trust. Who would you rather have me go to?" he declared.

Lisa once more turned her back on him. Her heart weighed down with pain. Lisa had fled from her pack and sought solace here since Nolan's death because she could no longer endure the anguish in her heart. Though it had hardly registered in her memory that seven long years had gone by, she had no idea if she was ready for this moment.

"It's possible that this choice will cause more friction with Jessie," Lisa warned. "She should be leading the pack while you're away; she's the Luna."
