chapter 22

I stood under the warm water as it sprayed down on me.

With my head tilted back and my eyes closed, I tried to let the water wash away all my worries and stresses.

The small splatters of the water caused discomfort to one side of my face, the one that was badly bruised.

It was close to Lunch hour when Beatrice came to check on me again and she'd found me in the same spot, curled up in to a ball, shivering under the two blankets.

This time, she didn't ask me to get up. She looked at the plastic bag and when she realized that I hadn't touched it, she grew angry.

I didn't get to protest as she walked over to me and grabbed me by the arm to drag me out of the cell.

My strength was no match to hers. She pulled me out of the dungeons as if I was a child caught doing something naughty.

I tried to shake her grip away from my arm but she was not having any of it.

I'd held on to the two blankets while Beatrice pulled me towards the main pack house.
