Tessa's hand stilled. She looked up at him and her gaze darkened. He had stood up so he was now looking down at her. But regardless, she didn't lose out in any way. This was because she seemed extremely annoyed and aggravated.

Indeed, Tessa already had enough. She had been enduring their actions since yesterday because she was trying to think of the next step for her and her unborn child. But, she couldn't keep up with it any longer.

She sprang up from her seat and grabbed the plate. Then, she looked at him with a ridiculing gaze.

She spat, "You can go hungry if you don't want to eat. So ungrateful. I woke up early to make you breakfast but all I get is you telling me I'm bad at cooking."

She packed up the plates and sneered, "Since my cooking sucks that much, then don't it. I'll just consider it as though my good intentions were fed to a dog."

Chris was stunned by her words. His expression was that of disbelief as she looked at her. She had called him a dog.

She even dared to say it to his face.

He felt a surge of anger rise within him as he looked at her. He was so angry that he wanted to beat her up. He felt the urge to beat her up black and blue. But, his identity as alpha stopped him from doing so. His people would turn on him for beating a woman.

So, he lowered his raised hand and clenched his fist. Instead, he spat, "You ungrateful bitch!

Have you forgotten that I'm your alpha?"

Tessa scoffed upon hearing this. She turned to him, tauntingly, "Oh. It's only a matter of time before you stop being alpha. By then, the royalty will be transferred to another family. I'll see what your fate will be like by then."

Chris didn't seem affected. He raised his shoulders and declared proudly, "I'll find a male heir.

The alpha position will always belong to my family."

"Oh. How do you intend to do that? After all, I'm never going to give birth in this lifetime." Tessa retorted as she looked at him with derision in her gaze.

The room instantly turned quiet. Tessa scoffed when she saw that the other two had no reaction and they seemed shocked.

When they did, Chris grabbed Tessa by the shoulder and turned her to face him. His expression was aghast and he seemed deadly dangerous.

"What do you mean by that?" He questioned.

Tessa glanced at him, seeing the mad rage erupting inside him. She shrugged indifferently and repeated "It's just as you heard. I am infertile and can't give birth any longer."

Tessa had decided to keep the pregnancy from him. She would raise the child by herself. She had also made up her mind to lie to him that she was infertile. That way he wouldn't pay attention to the child in her womb.

Chris was devastated by her words. His hand which was on her shoulder fell weakly by her side.

He couldn't believe his ears. Tessa had been unable to give birth but he hadn't lost all hope. He thought she still had a chance to give him an heir.

Moreover, even if he found another woman to impregnate, he still needed her. She was Luna and his mate, it wasn't right for him to cheat.

So, he planned to coax Tessa into raising the child as hers after birth. He would disguise it as though she was the one who gave birth to the child. He knew Tessa would only resist upon knowing that he had cheated. But, he knew he would coax and she would eventually agree, after all, she wanted a child herself.

But, he had been dealt a blow by her. She was infertile. She could never give birth. She was not in any way useful to me any longer.

His mind was in a mess and he was infuriated. Her words broke the last straw on the camel's back.

He pushed her away in rage and Tessa could only hurriedly hold onto the table to balance herself.

But, Chris couldn't care less. He pointed at her. Then, he declared harshly,  "I want to break the mating bond. I'll reject you."

Tessa was stunned. Even though she had expected him to react that way, she still felt a sting in her heart. She was disheartened and disappointed.

Was she that useless? Did he only treat her as a breeding machine?

Then, what about their time together? Five years was not a joke. They had been a close couple and were harmonious. He treated her so well and held her to great standards. All those little flirty kisses. The long strolls around the pack under the moonlight.

Their relationship was close and she was the apple of his eyes back then. A lot of people envied their harmonious marriage. How did it come to be like this?

She felt her heart clench with sadness. Even though the events of yesterday had only just happened and were still fresh in her mind, she hadn't completely accepted the reality.

From where she was seated, Mona peeled at the quarreling couple silently. She was happy and delighted to see them tearing each other apart.

As she looked at Tessa's devastated expression, she had a look of pleasure. She was reveling in Tessa's unhappiness.

She couldn't be any less happy. All her life, she had always been Tessa's shadow. Everyone saw Tessa as the big sisterly figure. They would turn to Tessa without even giving her so much as a glance.

She was jealous. She wanted all that attention to herself. She wanted to be the luna and have everyone worshipping her.

Thus, Chris announced that he wanted to break the mate bond made her the happiest. She had already gained his attention. All she had to do was make sure he made her the next Luna.

She smirked. Tessa, it's time for me to be at the center of attention.

Chris ignored Tessa's devastation. He dug into his pockets and retrieved the phone. He dialed a number and when the other party picked up, he announced,

"I want to break the mate bond. Get all the council members here."
