I could tell by her expression Alaia was thinking of a way to get away from me. She was about to turn away when I grabbed her wrist. “Can’t a brother have a dance with his sister?”

Alaia looked at me suspiciously. If asking my sister to dance so I could question her about her intentions concerning a certain she-wolf was suspicious, then yes, she could be right.

“Sure, as long as you’re not here to convince me to leave,” she said, placing her hand on my shoulder.

“I think we are way past that point,” I laughed, hoping to ease the tension.

Truthfully, I hated our relationship as of late. We used to be so close. Then James and Maria’s situation came up, and she completely changed. Or maybe she didn’t, and I didn’t take the time to notice. Becoming Alpha at a young age made me miss out on certain events in her life. She probably felt neglected, and that’s something I can relate to.
