Still with her chin almost glued to her chest, Jennifer stood up, clearly reluctantly, but also silently, dragging her own body until she stopped in front of Corinne's chair, close enough for her to see how the girl's jaw was clenched with strength, to the point of outlining all the veins she had in her neck.

"I'm sorry. For giving you those flowers.” she said, through gritted teeth and in a way that definitely didn't sound sincere “I didn't mean to hurt you. I hope you can forgive me.”
